Patriot Outreach Projects 2009
Flip Flops for the Peace Corps
Former Patriot Coach, John Soden has been living and working with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic. We shipped 50 pairs of Patriot flip flops to help in his efforts.
"I know it has been a long time but I want to thank you again for those patriot sandals you sent me. As a community we decided that we would use them to fundraise for our water committee. We sold them at 50 pesos and they sold out in no time. The money that we raised will be used for the Water Committee that is charge of caring for the aqueduct that we are still constructing; however we are almost finished. Presently we have constructed the springbox (the device to channel the water into tubes, a sedimentation tank, a water deposit tank that holds 3000 gallons, 4 bridges, as well as placed over 4km of tube line. It’s quite amazing to see it all coming together. Thankfully as well, I have been funded to placed small solar panels on every house in my village; equipping each household with enough energy to power one light bulb for the night. Such that when I leave in November, I will have helped with the two largest needs of the community. "
STIX are for Kids
Stephen and Tim are 2009 Patriot Cannons teammates (7th Grade). They organized a collection day at a Patriot Elite practice to help the service project they created. We were proud to assist their initative in giving back.
We want to thank those who donated sticks and heads to support our “Stix are for Kids” Program. We are happy to report that we were able to donate 12 pretty awesome looking sticks to the Irish Lacrosse Association. For those of you who may have a shaft or head sitting around and not in use please consider donating to our program! Our goal is to refurbish even more sticks in 2010.
Thanks to the following organizations that assisted us in our efforts:
Chester/Mendham Youth Lacrosse
Lacrosse Unlimited – Madison
The Stringer’s Shack
